Kendrick Lamar Dominates 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards with Four Wins


The 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards, held at Atlanta's Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center and aired on October 10, showcased rapper Kendrick Lamar as the night's biggest winner. Lamar triumphed in every category he was nominated for, securing titles like Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Lyricist of the Year, Best Live Performer, and Video Director of the Year, in collaboration with Dave Free.

The event, hosted by rapper, actor, and executive producer Fat Joe, was a star-studded affair that also featured multiple artists' captivating performances, including GloRilla, Sexyy Red, T.I., and Jeezy.

Lamar wasn't the only artist to shine, as Lil Uzi Vert and Metro Boomin both secured two wins each, while Lil Durk and J. Cole were recognized for their collaboration on "All My Life." The "Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist" award went to Ghana's own Blak Sherif, while Ice Spice was crowned "Best International Flow" artist, making her homeland proud.

In addition to celebrating the artists, the awards honored Swizz Beatz and Timbaland with the "Rock The Bells Cultural Influence Award" for their significant contributions to the hip-hop genre. Hip-hop pioneer Marley Marl received the "I Am Hip Hop Award."
