A Final Year Student Of FUTA, Akure Collapses And Dies While Playing Fooball





The President of the Students’ Union Government of the institution, Adeyinka Olasehinde expressed sadness over the unfortunate incident that just befell the school.
According to him, death wouldn’t have snatched Agboola away if NASU were not on strike. He calls on Federal Government to consider the demands of the Union in order for federal universities to operate smoothly.
Tunji Agboola, a final year student of Applied Geophysics Department at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, the Ondo state capital has been reportedly dead.
Information gathered by revealed that the deceased who reside outside the school premises was playing football with his friends on Saturday when he suddenly collapsed.
He was rushed to a private clinic as the institution’s clinic could not be accessed due to the ongoing national strike by the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU of Federal Universities.
The private clinic where he was rushed to referred him to the State General Hospital as a result of the unavailability of Oxygen.
Agboola was however confirmed dead on arrival by the General Hospital who tried all efforts to revive him.
Friends of the deceased said they are not aware of him battling with any health challenge before his death. The Nigerian Association of Earth and Mineral Science Students, NAEMSS, took to the streets to protest the death of Agboola claiming that he would not have died if they have had access to the clinic immediately he collapsed.

Olasehinde told reporters that the family of the deceased have collected his body for proper burial of their son.
Commenting on the incident, the management of the institution said the death of Agboola is a sad news and pray that God should console the relatives and friends of the deceased.
The management also promised to do more in ensuring that the health services of the instituion and welfare of the students are greatly improved.
In the words of Mr. Adebanjo Adegbenro, who spoke on behalf of FUTA’s management “Our prayers are with the family at this very difficult time.”
“FUTA commiserates with his immediate family and friends and prays God to grant them the fortitude to bear this painful loss. This is a time of sober reflection.”
The body of the deceased has been moved by his relatives to Ado Ekiti where his parents reside in preparation for his funeral service.
