Telecommunications company, Airtel Nigeria on Friday, September 18, 2015, launched the One Mic All Stars Volume One Album at the Sky Light Terrace of Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.
The album was recorded by the winners of the Airtel One Mic competition: Jay Dreamz, Lase, Acetune, Zorah, and they all took turns to thrill the guests in attendance with some of their songs. The budding talents were supported by energetic dancers on stage who added more colour to their performances.
The event was hosted by Beat FM's Jimmie, while EME's DJ Xclusive was on the wheels of steel dishing out hot tunes to the delight of the audience made up mostly of students of tertiary institutions and youths.
Meanwhile, the event also doubled as a birthday celebration for Airtel brand ambassador, 2face Idibia who was marking his 40 birthday on the day. The celebrant who was dressed in a brown bowler hat and free-flowing garment looked very pleased to be in attendance at the event as he intermittently acknowledged cheers from the excited crowd, even as DJ Xclusive served up a pot-pourri of his hit tracks.
The high point of the event was when the 'African Queen' crooner who is obviously a mentor to many of the singers, was invited on stage to cut his birthday cake, accompanied by the Airtel officials, and the One Mic winners.
In his remarks, Airtel's Head of Youth Segment, Mr. Segun Aderinokun stated, "We are a very responsive brand to young people and that's why we're doing this. The journey started about a year ago when we were looking to showcase the talented youths out there, and we're happy with the results we've gotten."
