Sources: Omirin plots to invade Ekiti with policemen from Osun

The embattled former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin, plans to invade the state with armed policemen and other security operatives from Osun State, a source said late on Sunday.

The revelation followed a story by The Eagle Online that the Ekiti State Police Command and the Department of State Services had concluded arrangements to restore the security details of Omirin.

The security details of the former speaker were withdrawn after his impeachment last year.

An online news platform, Upshot Reports, had claimed that information available to it was that Omirin's security details had been restored.

But in a late night response to the report, sources said on Sunday that Omirin was only preparing the grounds for the release of policemen and other security details to him from Osun State.

One of the sources said eight Mobile Policemen from the Osun State Government House have been released to Omirin.

Also said to have been made available to Omirin are one Toyota Prado Sports Utility Vehicle and two Toyota Hillux Vans.

It was also said that the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, had released N175 million to Omirin for the usage of the All Progressives Congress members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

The N175 million is to be shared among the APC legislators.

Omirin, one of the sources claimed on Sunday, is to take N35 million, while the remaining 14 lawmakers will get N10 million each.

One of the sources disclosed that the news of the restoration of Omirin's security aides, published by an online platform, www.upshotreportsonline.com, owned by Mojeed Jamiu, former Special Adviser to former Governor Kayode Fayemi, was a decoy aimed at giving the public the impression that the mobile policemen released to Omirin from Osun State were policemen from the Ekiti State Police Command.

A top security agent described as false the claim that Omirin's security aides were restored.

"Restored by who? When? I don't know anything about that," a top security officer said.
