The National Universities Commission has
granted full accreditation to the College of Medicine, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Aina,

the pre-convocation press briefing of the
Institution.
Aina, who said the institution was set to
graduate 6,807 during its 20th
convocation ceremony, said 19 out of the
graduating students bagged first class
degrees in various fields.
The institution is also expecting
accreditation of the college by the
Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
The convocation would cover 2012/2013
academic session due to national strike
by the Academic Staff Union of
Universities.

stewardship, the VC said he was able to
raise the internally-generated revenue of
the school and judiciously utilise same.

bulk of the money used in equipping the
Medical College.
The VC said on assumption of office, he
was confronted with seamless integration
of three universities into one and after
doing that, backlog of convocation
ceremonies and issuance of certificates
were tackled.
He commended Tertairy Education Trust
Fund, corporate bodies and well-wishers
for assisting in re-positioning the
university and putting up some
structures.
"Twenty-five new buildings were put up,
including new buildings for eight faculty
offices. 47 academic programmes were
successfully accredited in 2012 by the
NUC and relevant professional bodies.
"We resuscitated graduate assistantship
programme which had earlier been
suspended, accessibility to TETfund funds
for the training of our junior academic
staff. For instance, over 25 of our junior academic staff are in topnotch overseas universities on various collaborative training programmes leading to Ph.D," he said.
Projecting into the future, the VC added that the university had planned a five-year Institutional Strategic Plan covering
the year 2015 to 2019.
Apart from introducing new programmes
in various faculties, Aina stated that the
